Welcome to the

The Fitchburg Public School System serves approximately 6000 students in grades Pre K-12.

A new 38 million dollar high school opened in August 2000.

The city of Fitchburg is a culturally diverse community of approximately 40,000 residents located in Central Massachusetts.

The new 235,000 sq. ft. Fitchburg High School accommodates 1,400 students. The site provides a quiet, rural setting for a high school with beautiful panoramic views to the east, wetlands and hilly terrain to the south, and natural wooded buffers to the west. There are 72 acres for school and community use, which include athletic facilities, such as baseball and softball fields, soccer and field hockey fields, cross country trails, and tennis courts. FHS houses a 30,000 square foot community athletic center, complete with indoor track, four multi-purpose courts, seating for 1,500, weight room and aerobics area, and physical therapy areas. Included in the facility is a 750-seat auditorium and a state-of-the-art library/media center.

The mission of the Fitchburg Public Schools is to provide coordinated curricular and extracurricular experiences that inspire students to develop the academic, intellectual, creative, technological, and social skills necessary to work and to participate in our democratic society. Highly qualified educators who motivate and support students in achieving the high standards of literacy and numeracy as described in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks will staff our schools. Teachers, administrators, and parents will collaborate to insure the effectiveness of learning experiences that are differentiated to meet a variety of student learning styles, needs, and interests. All members of the school community will focus on achieving academic excellence through curricula that promote inquiry and stimulate curiosity as the foundation for lifelong learning.
